Idul Adha, Hajj Holy Day and the Sacrifice Day

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Adha

Idul Adha begins on the 10th day of the month of Dzulhijjah and continues until the 13th day of the month. It commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice the life of his son Ishmail on God’s (ALLAH) command. As Ibrahim was about to slaughter Ismail, ALLAH accepted Ibrahim's devotion and obedience by replacing Ishmail with a lamb.

The Muslims all over the world commemorate this occasion by slaughtering animals (sheep, lambs, cows, or camels) and distributing the meat among relatives, neighbors, and the poor as a special act of charity for the occasion. Because of this, many poor Muslims are able to enjoy the unusual luxury of eating meat during Idul Adha.
