Rosamund Pike grew up in London,
the only daughter of two professional opera singers.
At 16, Pike was accepted at the National Youth Theatre
and played her first lead role in Romeo and Juliet
when she was 18. She then enrolled at Oxford, where
she studied English Literature. At Oxford, Pike
continued to act and toured with the university
production. The tour, during summer recess, took
her on a six-week trip to Japan.
Following her television debut in A Rather English
Marriage (1998), she
made her feature film debut in Love in a Cold Climate
(2001). Pike’s
next role was as Miranda Frost, MI6 agent, champion
fencer and a true match for James Bond in Die Another
Day (2002). After Bond,
Rosamund returned to theater, as The Blonde in award-winning
highly acclaimed "Hitchcock
Blonde" at the Royal Court Theatre in
London.
In early 2004, Pike starred alongside Johnny Depp
in The Libertine. She stayed in the U.K. for her
next project, Pride & Prejudice (2005)
which features an all-star cast including Keira
Knightley, Brenda Blethyn, Donald Sutherland and
Dame Judi Dench. |
