Gareth Gates was born on 12 July
1984 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. With
a background in singing, piano, and classical guitar,
Gareth auditioned for Pop Idol contest in Manchester.
After a second audition, he succeeded to get through
to the final and won the second place on 9 February
2002. Simon Cowell then signed him as a solo artist.
Gareth rose to the top in the UK Top 40 singles
chart with a contemporary version of ‘Unchained
Melody’ which made him the youngest
British male singer to have a number one single
as well as the UK teen pop sensation. His next single
‘Anyone of Us (Stupid
Mistake)’ was released in July 2002.
